Celebrating the End of School Holidays & Embracing a Little More 'Me' Time

Mama, you did it. You survived the school holidays! Weeks of snack prepping, sibling refereeing, endless outings, and a whole lot of “Muuuuuum” being shouted from various rooms in the house. It’s been full-on, exhausting, and (if we’re being honest) possibly a little overwhelming at times.

The school holidays can be a whirlwind. They are fun and chaotic, but also mentally and physically draining. And for some, they can be a little triggering— stretching us beyond our limits or simply leaving us feeling touched-out and overstimulated. But guess what? You got through it. And that deserves celebrating.

Now, as the kids settle back into school routines (hallelujah for normal bedtimes again!), it’s time to take a deep breath and ease yourself back into a bit of normalcy too. And most importantly, it’s time to carve out a little more you time—because you’ve earned it mama!

20 Simple Self-Care Moments for Mamas

Self-care doesn’t have to be extravagant or time-consuming. It’s about weaving small moments of joy into your day—things that fill your cup and bring you back to yourself. Here are 20 simple ideas to help you find those little pockets of bliss:

  1. Enjoy a hot cuppa while it’s still hot (bonus points if you sit down with your feet up to drink it!).

  2. Take 10 deep breathes outside—fresh air does wonders for the soul.

  3. Have a slow morning where you don’t rush.

  4. Listen to your favourite song and sing at the top of your lungs.

  5. Read a chapter of a book just for you - one that doesn't require us to make any animal noises!

  6. Light a candle or pop some essential oils in the diffuser.

  7. Take a bath with zero interruptions (lock the door if needed!).

  8. Put your feet up and watch an episode of your favourite show.

  9. Write down three things you’re grateful for.

  10. Do a quick 10-minute stretch or movement session.

  11. Indulge in a nourishing snack (more on that in a moment!).

  12. Take yourself out for a coffee date—even if it’s just in your car with a podcast.

  13. Pop on a face mask or give yourself a mini facial.

  14. Scroll social media guilt-free (yes, it’s allowed!).

  15. Have a solo dance party in the kitchen.

  16. Send a message to a friend and arrange a child free coffee date.

  17. Lay down and close your eyes for five minutes—pure bliss.

  18. Journal or brain-dump your thoughts.

  19. Do something creative—doodle, bake, craft, or rearrange a space.

  20. Treat yourself to one thing that’s just for you today.

Nourish Yourself Too, Mama

Taking a moment for yourself also means taking a moment to fuel your body with goodness. The Mamahood Collective baking mixes are packed with nutrient-dense ingredients to sustain you through the day—whether you’re on the go, squeezing in a quick break, or just needing a little energy boost.

So why not make it a daily ritual? A moment of bliss just for you with a nourishing snack in hand. Maybe it’s a Chocolate & Raspberry Fudge Bite with your morning coffee, or a Triple Chocolate Cookie in that quiet post-bedtime moment. Whatever it is, make it yours.

You’ve spent the holidays making sure your little ones were fed, entertained, and happy. Now it’s time to do the same for yourself.

Here’s to surviving the school holidays, embracing the return of routine, and most importantly reclaiming a little bit of you again. ❤️
